Coach Stevenson joined FC Man United early in 2005. He brings a variety of soccer experience at the youth and collegiate level. He has coached multiple FC Man United teams. In early 2008, Matt became the Director of Coaching and Player Development for the FC Man United Soccer Club. Matt also currently is a coach for the LA Strikers, a womens semi-professional team based out of Los Angeles. Matt currently holds his USSF National "C" license.
His coaching career began at Etiwanda High School (Eagles) 1999-2004. He was the varsity coach for four years and led them to the Mt. Baldy League championship in 2001 and the California Interscholastic Federation semi-finals. Matt graduated 7 Boys in 2001, all 7 received Division I Soccer Scholarships. While at Etiwanda High School, Matt coached and guided Maurice Edu through his Sophomore, Junior and Senior years. Maurice went on to become a First Team All-American at University of Maryland and recently was the First overall draft pick of the 2007 MLS Super-Draft. Maurice went on to play for Toronto FC of the MLS and was recently acquired by the Glasgow Rangers of Scotland.
Coach Stevenson recently served as coach for Arsenal Soccer Club, Apple Valley Storm, and Claremont Stars Soccer Club. In his terms with these clubs, Matt guided many teams to domestic competitions, including the Nomads Tournament, Surf Cup, North Huntington Beach Cup, Dallas Cup and California Youth Soccer Association State National Cup.
His playing career was highlighted by competitive international play in both Scotland and England, and his collegiate experience where he was a two year defensive All-American with the California State University of San Bernardino.
